  2. Tuition includes a $100 non-refundable annual enrollment fee paid before the beginning of each academic year.
  3. Students taking less than 12 units of credit per quarter are not eligible for institutional financial aid.
  4. Minimum Payment Frequency is Quarterly

  6. RF - Refundable (see details below). NRF - not refundable after the quarter begins.
  7. The Activity fee includes the Europe trip fee (covering accommodations and guide expenses during the Europe trip); Consumer Electronics Show trip; and local field trips. It is required for ALL students.

  9. All students are required to live on campus. Exceptions may be made in exceptional circumstances for students whose parents live within 20 miles of campus.

Frequency of Payment of Fees:
Students are billed quarterly for their fees. The amount is one-third of the 9-month academic year total. Payments are due one month prior to the start of the quarter with no applicable convenience fees. Late payments will incur a 10% late fee.

Students are required to provide their own laptop computer and required software (which depends on the program of study). Students are required to purchase their own textbooks and take care of their own clothing, transportation and health insurance needs. Students participating in sports are expected to cover those costs.

HOW DO I PAY FOR COLLEGE?
There are three major sources of money:

  • Loans (available from banks - you must repay after you graduate);
  • Scholarships and grants (available from JP Catholic and many outside organizations - you do not need to repay or earn);
  • Get a job! (there are lots available nearby for JP Catholic students).

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A LOAN?
JP Catholic has established a partnership with Wells Fargo Bank to make available a deferred loan to our students. It is called an 'Education Connection Loan'
Important to note is that:

  1. Students make NO payments while in school
  2. Loan amounts can range from $1,000 to $25,000 per academic year, with a total aggregate loan limit of $100,000.
  3. No origination, disbursement or repayment fees
  4. It has a 15-year repayment term.
  5. Students may be eligible to apply based on their their own credit or with a cosigner.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR JP CATHOLIC SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS?
Financial aid is assistance that helps pay the difference between your family's determined ability to pay and what it will actually cost for you to go to college. Financial aid at JP Catholic is viewed as supplementary to your family's financial ability and commitment. Financial aid at JP Catholic is awarded to students on the basis of financial need and merit. JP Catholic will provide some form of financial assistance to approximately 60% of the student body.

  • First apply for admission by completing the JP Catholic application form.
  • Once you have been accepted by JP Catholic you may apply for financial aid. You may apply for
    1. Institutional Scholarships (based primarily on merit),
    2. Institutional Grants (based primarily on financial need), and
    3. Work-Study (based on your skills and our part-time work needs)
  • Once you are accepted, you are then eligible to appply for Financial Aid by completing this Financial Aid Application Form and submit to JP Catholic.
  • If you are offered financial aid by JP Catholic University, we reserve the right to request that a signed copy of your parents' latest federal tax return, along with all schedules and attachments, be provided to the Financial Aid Office. Your financial aid award must be considered tentative until we receive the tax return copy and any other required forms.

Refund Policy
Prior to the first day of instruction, the tuition fee is refunded minus the $100 enrollment fee.

Buyer’s Right to Cancel:
You, the student, have the right to cancel this Agreement for a program of instruction until midnight of the next business day following the first class you attended. This includes fees for any equipment such as computers laptops, software, books, materials and supplies or any other goods related to the instruction offered in this Agreement. Cancellation shall occur when written notice of cancellation is delivered to the address of JP Catholic shown on Page 1 of the Enrollment Agreement. This delivery can be by mail, hand delivery or telegram. If notice is sent by mail, it is effective when postmarked with postage prepaid. If you cancel this Agreement, JP Catholic will refund any money that you, the student, have paid, less any deduction for equipment not returned on time or not in good condition, within thirty days after your Notice of Cancellation is received.

Withdrawal From Course:
You, the student, will have the right to withdraw from a program of instruction at any time. The refund policy for students who have completed 60 percent or less of the course of instruction shall be a pro rata refund. If you withdraw from the course after the period allowed for cancellation of the Agreement, which is until midnight of the next business day following the first class you attended, JP Catholic will remit a refund, less the non-refundable enrollment fee of $100, within thirty days following your withdrawal. You are obliged to pay only for educational services rendered and for unreturned equipment. The refund shall be the amount you paid for instruction multiplied by a fraction, the numerator of which is the number of hours of instruction which you have not received but for which you have paid, and the denominator of which is the total number of hours of instruction for which you have paid.

IF THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID IS MORE THAN THE AMOUNT THAT YOU OWE FOR THE TIME YOU ATTENDED, THEN A REFUND WILL BE MADE WITHIN THIRTY DAYS OF WITHDRAWAL. IF THE AMOUNT THAT YOU OWE IS MORE THAN THE AMOUNT THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID, THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PAY FOR IT.

Students whose entire tuition and fees are paid by a third party organization are not eligible for a refund.

Hypothetical Refund Example:
A student enrolls in a BS degree program. The student notifies the Dean on the Friday of the 5th week of the quarter of his/her intention to withdraw. The tuition and fees charged for that quarter are $6,200 (not including equipment and software). A cancellation charge of $100 is applied to all cancellations. Therefore, the tuition and fees applicable to the refund policy = $6,200 (tuition and fees) - $100 (non-refundable enrollment fee) = $6,1000.

The refund schedule, based on the student’s date of withdrawal (5 weeks into the 10-week quarter), determines that 50% of the fees will be refunded to the student and 50% retained by the University. 0.50 (percentage from the refund schedule as of the student withdrawal date) x $6,100 = $3,050 (amount of the fees refunded to the student). The student refund/university retention of the fees is as follows: $6,200 (amount student paid) - $3,150 (amount University retains) = $3,050 (refund). The student in this example is assumed to have paid cash and received no financial aid.

Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF)
The Student Recovery Fund (STRF) was established by the Legislature to protect any California resident who attends a private postsecondary institution from losing money if they prepaid tuition and suffered a financial loss as a result of the school closing, failing to live up to its enrollment agreement or refusing to pay a court judgment. To be eligible for STRF, you must be a California resident and reside in California at the time the enrollment agreement is signed or when you receive lessons at a California mailing address from an approved institution offering correspondence instruction. Students who are temporarily residing in California for the sole purpose of pursuing an education, specifically those who hold student visas, are not considered a California resident. Further, those students who are the recipients of third-party tuition and course costs are not eligible for protection under and recovery from the STRF. To qualify for STRF reimbursement you must file an STRF application within one [1] year of receiving notice from the Bureau that the school is closed. If you do not receive notice from the Bureau, you have four [4] years from the date of closure to file an STRF application. If a judgment is obtained you must file an STRF application within two [2] years of the final judgment. It is important that you keep copies of the enrollment agreement, financial aid papers, receipts or any other information that documents the monies paid to the school. Questions regarding STRF may be directed to the address shown on the reverse side of the Enrollment Agreement.
