Why did you choose JP Catholic?

I chose JP Catholic because not only do I have a love for movies but because I wanted to deepen my faith. In high school I found myself falling out of my faith. I didn’t want to go to church, and the only time I would pray was when I wanted something. I knew there was so much to be learned and I wanted my faith to be stronger. So I looked into the school and set a date to visit. During that visit, I completely fell in love with the school. I felt welcomed by the students and saw first-hand how much fun they had, how much God was in their lives, and how much they were learning in the classroom. I wanted to be a part of it. Now, thankfully, I am here. My faith is stronger than it has ever been, and I am doing what I love.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose Media Communications because I have a love for movies. Since I was three years old, I have loved sitting down and watching movies. I have always been fascinated by film, asking in my mind “How did they do that,” “How long did that take.” I am a creative person, and always have been. Now I am able to take my creativity and apply it to making great films. Films with better morals, but with that same high quality that we see in all movies today.

What are your favorite campus activities?

A new activity that is being done is the movie by the pool. We have done it twice so far, and it has been so much fun. In the pool area at our apartments we will tape a sheet up and project a fun "pool-type" movie. So far we have done Jaws and Finding Nemo. We either sit on the chairs at the pool or swim while the movie is playing. We have food too. It is a great way for us all to come together and just hang out, and relax with the glowing pool water, a fun movie, food and friends.

Who is your favorite professor?

All the professors here are great. However, I would have to say Professor Barber is my favorite. With his knowledge of the theology, Sacred Scripture, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, I have really grown in my faith. He has taught me so much and I find I have so many questions that he is willing to answer. I am learning so much from him, and I am applying what I learn to my life outside of class. I have a deeper understanding of my faith because of Professor Barber and that, to me is most important.
