Why did you choose JP Catholic?

I choose JP Catholic foremost because it is very strongly Catholic. All of the students are actively involved in the mission of the school “Impacting the culture for Christ” Even in my short visit as a potential student it was readily apparent that the Catholic faith is very alive, not only in the students, but also in the faculty. The second reason that I choose JP Catholic was its entrepreneurial business degree. The entrepreneurial business program at JP Catholic not only directly guides the student through starting a business, but also teaches the key skills to work in any business environment. In coming to JP Catholic, I have the opportunity to realize my desire to be a business owner, and in doing so impact culture for Christ.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose the entrepreneurial business degree because I want the independence of being an entrepreneur. When I was a kid, I wanted to be that guy who could survive in the wild with nothing but a knife. In the same way, I don’t want to have to rely on the corporate ladder to do what I want in the business world. I want to have the skills to manage and create my own businesses. Entrepreneurship has huge risks, fortunately the entrepreneurial business degree here at JP Catholic teaches a broad range of business skills that will enable me to work n any business environment. If entrepreneurship doesn’t work out, I will still have the know-how to perform in the business world.

What are your favorite campus activities?

I enjoy hanging out with other students. The pool is really nice, and the hot tub is great (especially in the winter). Despite the small size of the school, there is always something going on. The student life activities are always fun. This past quarter we had a luau at the beach, an Iron Chef competition, there was a formal dance after the Gala, to name a few. On Sunday some of us meet for apologetics group in the afternoon. Living on campus is great because the students are a community, we have fun working, praying, and playing together.

Who is your favorite professor?

Right now that would have to be by Prof. Chris Riley. All my professors are awesome, but Prof. Riley astounds me. He taught my communications I class this past quarter. I hated writing in high school. Prof. Riley actually has me convinced that writing an essay can fun. Prof. Riley class taught us everything from writing an effective email, to research papers. My favorite professor will change with the classes I’m taking, but this quarter Prof. Riley changed the way I look at writing.
