John Paul the Great Catholic University prepares students professionally and spiritually for careers in the diverse, yet complementary fields of media, business, and technology. It provides an academically rigorous, yet practical environment for students called to impact culture for Christ.

Video Game Development as an academic field encompasses the broad areas of computer science, and game design and development. Students obtain a working knowledge of the principles and practices of game design and the overall game development process – highly relevant skills for the rapidly growing game industry.

Senior Game Design Lab in the senior year is a sequence of courses where students create a real mobile or casual video game from idea to published product. Graduates can expect to acquire a fundamental and practical knowledge that will position them on the frontiers of the design and implementation of interactive media applications on the web, in gaming, virtual reality and various other multimedia applications. Students learn the fundamentals of art and programming as well as the major design and development tools. Graduates will be skilled as technical artist, able to bridge the divide between game artisits and game programmers. Graduates will expect to pursue career opportunities either in existing companies or in their own company within the interactive media industry.

Industry-experienced faculty bring a unique blend of entrepreneurial spirit underpinned by a serious focus on forming student-led businesses to thrive within the increasingly competitive global marketplace.
