1. First quarter of Year 2 successfully completed
JP Catholic has recently completed the Fall quarter of our second year of operation. With 58 students, pursing degrees in Entertainment Media and Entrepreneurial Business, there are 26 sophomores and 32 freshmen. There are 38 students from California and 20 students from 14 other states. Students were taught by a total of 9 faculty.

2. New Media Lab complete
At its core, JP Catholic's mission is to form minds to shape the rapidly evolving and highly culture-impacting field of New Media, and to influence the global secular culture for Christ. Our students learn to imagine, create, and produce the very best of content. JP Catholic has just completed acquiring state-of-the-art camera and editing equipment for its two core media labs. We are grateful to the extraordinarily generous benefactors who made this possible. We continue to seek funds to hire new faculty. Read more details....

3. JP Catholic named one of 21 recommended Catholic colleges
JP Catholic University has been named one of 21 recommended Catholic colleges and universities in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College: What to Look For and Where to Find It. The book is published by the Cardinal Newman Society. According to Guide editor Joseph Esposito, 'JP Catholic University has greatly impressed us with its strong Catholic identity, substantial core curriculum and 21st century niche majors that include business entrepreneurship and the New Media. We expect wonderful things from this institution, and we heartily recommend it to parents, students and guidance counselors.' See www.TheNewmanGuide.com for more details.

4. JP Catholic adopts year round structure for its academic degree programs
JP Catholic Board of Trustees has approved the adoption of a Year Round structure for its academic degree programs starting July 2008. Students will now finish their degree program in 3 years rather than the traditional 4 years. Commenting on the change, JP Catholic President, Dr. Derry Connolly, said “JP Catholic's mission is to shape innovators and creators, leaders and entrepreneurs at the intersections of business, technology and communications media”. The traditional “agricultural” model for higher education with its long summer vacations does not support our mission. Read more details....

5. Gospel of Luke Bible Study
It starts Wednesday Jan 9th, 2008 at 7pm at JP Catholic. The instructor is Prof Michael Barber, the Professor of the Theology, Scripture and Catholic Thought at JP Catholic University. 7. Screening of THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE from Grassroots Films
JP Catholic will host a screening of an exciting new film from Grassroots Films of Brooklyn, New York called THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE . It is the story of a band of brothers who travel the world in search of the answers to the burning questions: Who am I? Who is Man? Why do we search for meaning? Their journey brings them into the middle of the lives of the homeless on the streets of New York City, the orphans and disabled children of Peru, and the abandoned lepers in the forests of Ghana, Africa. What the young men discover changes them forever. Through one on one interviews and real life encounters, the brothers are awakened to the beauty of the human person and the resilience of the human spirit. The screening is free, but a reservation is required. Screening date to be announced shortly. Read more details....

8. Scholarship funding required for students with financial need
We are currently seeking critical scholarship support for students with significant financial need. There are a handful of current students who will not be able to continue their education at JP Catholic without this additional financial support. Please call Dr Connolly at 858-653-5740 if you are able to fund a scholarship in any amount.

If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to (this) mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you. Luke 17:6
