1. Associate Provost & ALO

The Associate Provost and Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) is vital in maintaining an effective accreditation relationship between JP Catholic and WASC. He/she provides a second line of communication, after the President, about WASC policies, practices, and other matters related to accreditation. The Associate Provost & Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) to work with the WASC Commission and its staff on matters of accreditation. Duties for the Associate Provost & ALO include:

  1. Providing an identified place on campus where information can be disseminated and questions answered about institutional accreditation.
  2. Preparing the Annual Report that is required by WASC, and notify the Commission of substantive changes and program developments, as required by Commission policy.
  3. Maintaining a file of all accreditation materials, such as Institutional Review reports, evaluation team reports, accreditation manuals and guidelines, schedules of all visits, and correspondence from accrediting offices including Commission Action Letters. It may also be appropriate for the library to keep duplicates of Institutional Review reports and evaluation team reports. The ALO should make sure that faculty, administration, staff, and students know that these materials are available.
  4. Interpreting for the institution Commission accrediting Standards, policies, and procedures, and to call attention to particular sections of the Handbook that may apply to certain aspects of the campus, particularly when Standards or Commission policies are adopted or revised.
  5. Serving as chair for the institutional self-review, coordinate preparations in advance of evaluation visits, and assist in follow-up studies resulting from the evaluation.
  6. Attending meetings of liaison officers in order to receive information and participate in policy development.
  7. Serving on evaluation teams, when invited.
  8. Developing and coordinating accreditation visits and schedules, when possible.
  9. Receiving and responding to, as appropriate, copies of complaints referred by the WASC Commission staff to the chief executive officer.
  10. Receiving Commission bills for fees and visit expenses, and make sure they are paid promptly.

Associate Provost & ALO will report to the Provost and will be a senior member of the administration, who is interested in accreditation and who will report to the President on all relevant activities.

The ALO will have a high degree of visibility on campus, and will facilitate effective relationship between WASC and JP Catholic and enhance the participation of the institution in accreditation. The ALO will frequently seek advice and counsel from WASC staff.

Qualifications include: at least three years experience in academic administration in a college or university, including experience in accreditation, assessment and evaluation. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and comfort with the Catholic ethos of the institution.

2. CFO

JP Catholic University, as it continues to grow, is dividing the CFO/COO responsibilities into two distinct positions. Greg Breen, current CFO, will become the new COO once the new CFO is on board.

The University is now recruiting a new CFO, who will provide leadership, oversight, and stewardship for all aspects of the University's financial resources. The CFO's primary responsibilities consist of: financial forecasting, planning, budgeting, implementation and control; risk management and insurance; audit, regulatory compliance and financial reporting; asset management and contracts for classroom, administration and apartment facilities; banking services; payroll. The CFO has day-to-day management for the Director of Financial Aid and Bookkeeper in their responsibilities for accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, gifts, receipting, and student financial aid.

The CFO provides regular financial management reports to the President and to the Board of Trustees. The CFO is an advocate for fiscal prudence and accountability in a University that sustains a tradition of creative excellence and academic innovation in a culture of collaboration and mutual respect. At JP Catholic, filmmakers, visual artists, video gamer designers, business and theology academicians form a creative and collaborative Christ centered community.

The CFO is a member of the President's Cabinet and will report directly to the President, with accountability to the Audit committee of the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications include: Earned degree in accounting or finance and several years of progressively responsible finance, accounting, and management experience are required. An MBA and/or CPA is preferred.

3. Vice President of Development

JP Catholic University is now accepting applications for an energetic, mission-driven Vice President of Development. The new Vice President will work closely with distinguished faculty, Deans, Trustees and Regents, and the President to significantly grow our base of committed donors. The expansion of philanthropic support is critical to the acquisition of a permanent campus. The Vice President of Development is joining JP Catholic as it begins a major strategic planning initiative. Candidates for this position should anticipate partnering with leadership to plan for and implement a major capital campaign to build a 21st century campus.

As a member of the Presidents Cabinet - the senior management team, the Vice President of Development will be working closely with the Board of Trustees and Regents to formulate, develop and implement development efforts, oversee events, and serve as a visible and articulate representative of the University, with the objective of cultivating relationships that will result in significant gifts. Oversight of technology for donor records and management is also a priority. Development requires local and national travel, extensive phone work, and a proactive dedication to identifying potential benefactors and a broad University awareness strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing goals and plans that best meet the institution's priorities and are grounded in the realistic assessment of JP Catholic's philanthropic opportunities and potential.
  • Planning for and implementing a new major campaign in support of JP Catholic's strategic plan, including a permanent campus. The strategic planning process is in progress. Completing outstanding campaign.
  • Developing an expanded comprehensive major gifts program across all aspects of University to attract funds for programs and schools, securing foundation and corporate support.
  • Planning for and achieving an accountable and more fully integrated development and institutional advancement program for enduring growth in private support.
  • Implementing innovative operational processes and procedures to meet legal, financial and ethical requirements.
  • Using social media, marketing, events and working with the Office of Communications to develop innovative approaches to reaching out and enlarging the base of support.
  • Counsel the Board of Trustees on all policy matters relating to fundraising management. Keep abreast of changes in patterns of philanthropy and related tax and legislative developments.

Qualifications include:

  1. A strong and lived commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and a passion for the University's mission.
  2. At least 5-10 years of demonstrated success in a relevant setting with annual philanthropic revenues of at least $1,000,000, preferably in higher education.
  3. Knowledge of, and experience in, the full range of fund development tools and procedures including major gifts, annual giving, special events, prospect research and planned giving.
  4. A proven ability to engage and persuade people, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. A self-starter, driven by accomplishing their goals, and possess the ability to multi-task independently in a fast paced environment.
  6. A team player who enjoys working collaboratively with young, very bright and energetic peers. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic.
  7. High ethical standards. He/she must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  8. A Bachelor's degree, and preferably an advanced degree.

4. Vice President for Student Success

JP Catholic University is now accepting applications for an energetic, mission-driven Vice President for Student Success. The new Vice President will have the primary responsibility for the formation and success of students. Formation includes: Academic or intellectual formation and success; spiritual formation; human formation; and preparation for success in the workplace.

As a member of the Presidents Cabinet - the senior management team at the University, the Vice President of Student Success will be working closely with the President to formulate, develop and implement student success efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leadership, administration, and management of the core Student Success functions including Student Life and Activities, Academic Advising and Career Services.
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating student success strategies with emphasis on the University's Personal Plan for Success.
  • Works with Faculty and staff to promote best practices in student retention and works with at-risk students
  • Supervise the Student life team, which includes the Dean of Students, the Associate Dean for Women, the Residence Life Director, Career Services Director, and the student RA team.
  • Budgeting and fiscal performance the Student Success program.
